The osteopractic philosophy

‘Osteopractic’ is a sub-specialty within physical therapy that represents a different approach to interventional care. An osteopractic physical therapist is a specialist who has advanced post-graduate qualifications in physical therapy and has undergone specialized training in the application of spinal and extremity thrust manipulation, dry needling, instrument assisted manual therapies and differential diagnoses in order to treat different types of musculoskeletal conditions with faster and better outcomes.

Rather than identifying simply as ‘general’, ‘regular’ or ‘conventional’ physical therapy, osteopractic physical therapy more accurately describes the kind of physical therapy services being offered so that the public, and professional colleagues alike, can make informed choices about selecting – or referring to the appropriate practitioner – based on the patient’s presenting condition.

For instance, instead of a general practitioner, you tend to seek out a dermatologist if you have a skin condition, an orthopedist following a fracture or a pediatrician if your child requires medical attention. Likewise, there are certain conditions that are amenable to ostepractic care such as; Cervicogenic Headache, Migraines, Temporomandibular joint pain (jaw pain), Neck pain, Adhesive Capsulitis (frozen shoulder), Lateral Epicondylitis (Tennis Elbow), Medial Epicondylitis (Golfer’s Elbow), Achille’s tendinitis, Knee Osteoarthritis, and Plantar Fasciitis.

If you (or anyone you know) has any of these conditions, you’d be better served seeking out an osteopractor.

Why choose Elicent?

People. Physical therapy. Passion.

Physical therapy seems to be losing its personal touch. Profitability considerations have promoted the pursuit of patient volumes rather than the delivery of quality care and this has led to mounting patient dissatisfaction with physical therapy.

At Elicent, we do not believe that one size fits all. We pursue a tailored, one-on-one, hands-on approach to physical therapy that is customized to your unique needs and goals. We facilitate return-to-function in a lively, positive and enthusiastic healing environment that we hope will not only hasten your recovery but enhance your therapy experience as well.

While we are indeed passionate about our physical therapy, we are focused on utilizing the latest evidence-based techniques and applying high quality therapy interventions to provide you with refined physical therapy treatment sessions with the sole aim of helping you achieve your goals. This is why, at Elicent, in the hierarchy of our 3 guiding P’s, people come first – always.
